Known as the longest standing gun shop in Durban, Kings has been around for over 130 years. This was before the First Anglo-Boer War – and around the time that 50,000 diamond diggers were trying their luck in South Africa. Started by the Kings family in 1873, the shop operated right throughout the gold rush, major political upheaval over several years, and even saw a few wars. Passed from generation to generation, Kings remained a successful family business and in later years Doug Kirton and his family bought the shop. The Kirtons continued the tradition of excellent craftsmanship, high-quality firearms, ammunition, knives and other equipment and above all, the exceptional customer service only a family-run business can give. In years to come, Rowan Kirton took over from his father to continue the legacy of running Durban’s #1 gun shop.
